Meet the Founder

Lisa Ketcham-Hendrickson, RN, BA, Certified Wellness Coach

After more than thirty years as an emergency room nurse, I witnessed humanity at its most fragile. I cared for people through trauma, crisis, addiction, loss, and moments that forever changed the course of their lives.

Then life asked me to walk that path myself.

The deaths of my two sons transformed not only my understanding of grief, but my understanding of what healing truly requires. I discovered that surviving wasn’t enough. Healing demanded something deeper than coping—it required reconnecting with my body, my spirit, my values, and the parts of myself that had been buried beneath pain.

Human Recovery was born from that journey.

Today I bring together decades of nursing experience with trauma-informed yoga, somatic healing, nervous system regulation, wellness coaching, meditation, breathwork, and evidence-informed practices to help others find their own path home.

I am the Integrative Wellness Director at Serenity for Life, a residential trauma treatment center for women in Georgetown, Colorado. I also partner with them to bring the coaching program to the clients at Serenity.

“There is no direct path for healing. I believe healing happens when we learn to listen to ourselves again.”

Human Recovery at Serenity for Life

As the Integrative Wellness Director at Serenity for Life, I bring the Human Recovery framework into the residential treatment environment, where clients begin developing the awareness, practices, and daily rhythms that support healing beyond stabilization.

Serenity for Life is a women’s residential treatment center in Colorado offering compassionate, trauma-informed care with a whole-person approach, recognizing that lasting recovery requires more than addressing symptoms—it requires caring for the body, mind, nervous system, relationships, and lived experience of each individual.

Human Recovery helps bridge the often-precarious transition from residential treatment into outpatient care and everyday life, keeping clients engaged in the work and connected during this vulnerable phase of their journey. Participants begin the program while supported within the residential community and continue receiving coaching, accountability, and connection after discharge. This continuity allows them to carry what they have learned into their relationships, routines, responsibilities, and home environments—when ongoing support is often needed most.

My Why

Every sunrise and every sunset, brings me one day closer to you. Until we meet again, I will live this life fully, love deeply, and share the lessons you have taught me.

Every place I go, everything I do, every life I touch, carries a piece of you.

Lisa Ketcham-Hendrickson was interviewed on the podcast: Girl, Take the Lead

What if recovery isn’t about getting around our pain—but learning how to be with what we feel?

In this episode of Girl, Take the Lead!, Yo welcomes Lisa Ketcham-Hendrickson, somatic nurse coach and founder of Human Recovery.

Drawing on more than 30 years in emergency and trauma nursing—as well as her own journey through profound loss—Lisa integrates nervous-system regulation, yoga, breathwork, somatic practices, grief work, and wellness coaching.

Her work is rooted in the belief that healing is a process of coming home to ourselves—remembering the innate wholeness that has always existed beneath our conditioning, protective patterns, and the roles we have learned to carry.
